Royal Cut

Royal Cut greets the street in polished black granite, set in stepped bands that catch the light. A gold-lettered sign and two golden mannequins, one in a tuxedo and one in a mint lehenga, say what waits inside. Through the steel-framed glass door, the store opens into a double-height hall. A timber-and-glass staircase rises on one side, and an ornate plaster ceiling with a rosette and a brass globe chandelier crowns the space. Underfoot, a geometric marble floor in white, ochre, maroon, grey and black sets the rhythm. Arched timber shelves with brass edging hold folded fabric in rows of colour, while garments hang along the far wall. Carved cane-back armchairs and white-topped tables make room to sit, unfold and decide. Track lights keep every colour true.
